Fellowship offered to post-grad students
The New Jersey State Federation of Women’s Clubs of GFWC (NJSFWC) is accepting applications for Margaret Yardley fellowships.
The Margaret Yardley Fellowship Fund was established in 1930 with a $5,000 contribution from Farnham Yardley in memory of his mother, Margaret Yardley, who was the first NJSFWC president.
The fund provides fellowship grants to deserving New Jersey women who are pursuing post-graduate advanced studies at the school of their choice. NJSFWC has been able to award between six and eight $1,000 fellowship grants to deserving women annually.
Information (including application forms) regarding this fund is forwarded to all New Jersey universities, state colleges and independent four-year colleges, plus graduate departments at Harvard University and New York University. Considerations used when judging applicants’ qualifications include scholastic achievement, career service potential and charitable endeavors. The grant is applied solely to tuition expenses.
Applications are available on the NJSFWC website, under Projects or by calling NJSFWC Headquarters at 732-249-5474. The deadline for all information is March 1.
NJSFWC, founded in 1894, has been headquartered on the Douglass Residential Campus, formerly Douglass College in New Brunswick, since 1966. The Federation is a member of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs, the oldest and largest nonpartisan, nondenominational women’s volunteer service organization in the world.
