            Millstone Township Community Education will offer the following programs: • Musical theater ensemble, high school through adult, 6:30-7:30 p.m., Mondays, Oct. 12-Dec. 7, $248 fee, plus $12 materials fee. The class will concentrate on ensemble numers of all types.

      Give thanks and blood during Nov. 14 drive
            The Millstone Township Girl Scout Service Unity has partnered with Central Jersey Blood Center to sponsor a blood drive from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 14 at the Millstone Township Community Center on Route 524. All donors will be entered into a drawing for a $25 Target gift card.

      Furry Angels to appear at Freehold Raceway
            Millstone's Furry Angels Therapy Dogs and Adopt-A-Pet will host a dog artwork auction at the inside track of Freehold Raceway in Freehold 7-10 p.m. Dec. 5.       Millstone Halloween Parade slated for Oct. 25
            Millstone Township will hold its Halloween Parade Oct. 25. The parade will begin promptly at 2 p.m. at the fields behind the Clarksburg Inn, Route 524. Parking, parade line up and registration will be held between 1:45-2 p.m. only.

      HAMT meeting scheduled for Oct. 20
            The Horsemen's Association of Millstone Township (HAMT) will hold its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Oct. 20 at the Millstone Township Community Center, 463 Stagecoach Road, Clarksburg section of Millstone. Special guest Donald Moss will show "Blinders," his documentary about the use of horse-drawn carriages in New York City. The public is welcome. Details: 609-259-5577.

      Elks Foundation to award 500 scholarships
            In an effort to alleviate the financial burden of escalating college costs, the Elks Foundation has launched a Most Valuable Student Scholarship contest. This year, the Elks will award $2.296 million to 500 students. Awards to the 18 top winners will range from $8,000 to $60,000 over four years. The remaining 482 runnersup will receive $4,000 scholarships over four years.

      The Children's Hour' stars Allentown actors
            Peddie School in Hightstown presents Lillian Hellman's 1934 classic play, "The Children's Hour." Based on a true account, the play tells the story of two headmistresses of an all-girls boarding school who are falsely accused of having an affair. The events that unfold destroy both women's lives.

            New Jersey Center for Tourette Syndrome (NJCTS) has teamed up with Macy's to help the children and families statewide affected by Tourette syndrome. NJCTS will receive 100 percent of the proceeds from every $5 shopping pass purchased at a Macy's on Oct. 17. The shopping pass provides exclusive savings and special offers. Some exclusions apply.

      Annual rummage sale at firehouse Nov. 14
            The Ladies Auxiliary of Millstone Township Fire Company is sponsoring a rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 14 at the Millstone Township Fire Company. Donations of household items, linens, clothing (one bag per family), toys, books, tools, electronics and sports equipment are being accepted from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Nov. 10-12 at the firehouse.

      Park system programs for November
            The Monmouth County Park System, will present "Sit Thee Down, Chairs That FurnishedWalnford" an exhibit Nov. 1-30 at Historic Walnford, Walnford Road, Upper Freehold. The exhibit will display a variety of chairs, both plain and fancy, that once furnished the Walnford estate throughout the 18th and 19th centuries.

            Mrs. Salmansohn, 93, of Roosevelt, died Oct. 10, 2009, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, Hamilton. Born in Windsor, she lived in Freehold for eight years prior to moving to Roosevelt 26 years ago. She and her late husband owned of the Manalapan General Store. Her husband, Benjamin, and a son, Martin, predeceased her.
