      UFRSD middle school team advances to regional match
            Afriendly feud has sprung up among students seeking the spoils of literacy. America's Battle of the Books, a reading incentive program for students in grades 3-12, kicked off in December with kids in New Jersey schools asked to voluntarily read books outside the realm of their regular classroom requirements.

      Millstone students get Arbor Day 'tree'tment
      Commission donates 1,800 trees to township schools
            Millstone Township School District students were 'tree'ted to saplings for Arbor Day. The township's Shade Tree Commission donated over 1,800 young trees to primary, elementary and middle school students on April 28. Millstone kids will now have a chance to try their green thumbs at raising Douglas firs, white swamp oaks, Norway spruces and scarlet oaks.

      Foley, Gordon to again lead Millstone BOE
            MILLSTONE — Thomas Foley and Margaret Gordon will again serve as president and vice president of the Board of Education. At the April 27 re-organization meeting, they were the only candidates nominated for the positions. While the board unanimously elected Gordon, board members Holly Deitz voted against Foley serving as president and Amy Jacobson abstained.

      Community invited into classrooms
            MILLSTONE — Kiddie Academy of Millstone celebrated Week of the Young Child bringing community into the classroom. The Week of the Young Child, which took place April 19-25 this year, honors young children and those who make a difference in children's lives.

      Environmental education funds made available
            Applications are now available for PSEG's Environmental Education Grant Program. Teachers who can successfully link their students' understanding of math, science, computer science, and/or technology concepts with an enthusiasm and appreciation for the environment are encouraged to apply, according to a PSEG press release.
