      Millstone MOMS Club will meet May 14
            The MOMS Club of Millstone Township will hold its next monthly meeting 10 a.m. May 14. The group will be discussing low- or nocost monthly calendar activities for all age groups, ranging from newborns and up.

      Golf tourney will help horses in need of care
            The Standardbred Retirement Foundation (SRF) will host its annual charity golf tournament on May 11 at the Knob Hill Country Club in Manalapan. All proceeds benefit the SRF, which finds homes for noncompetitive standardbreds and ensures their lifelong care.

      Vendors needed for old/new flea market
            The Millstone Elks Ladies Auxiliary will host an old/new flea market May 16 in the parking lot of Glory's Market, Jackson. Spaces are available for $10. The rain date is scheduled for May 17. Call Denise at 732-928-6120 or more information.

      Horsemen's group slates general meeting
            The Horsemen's Association of Millstone Township (HAMT) will hold its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. May 19 at the Millstone Township Community Center, 463 Stagecoach Road, Clarksburg section of Millstone. HAMT is open to both horse owners and nonowners who all share the same common interest, the love of the horse.

      Freedom Fest Fair seeks horse exhibitors
            The third annual Freedom Fest Fair is set for July 7-12 at the Horse Park of New Jersey in Upper Freehold. The fair is now taking applications for horse exhibitions and breed demonstrations. Exhibitions in the indoor arena will take place 5-10 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday. Exhibitions in the main pavilion arena will take place 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

      School landscape project seeks help
            As part of Staff Appreciation Week, the Millstone PTO is planning to landscape the fronts of the Elementary School, 308 Millstone Road, and the Primary School, 18 Schoolhouse Road. Plants, shrubs, landscape materials, donations, gift cards and volunteers for planting are all needed to make the project a success. Help from a local landscaper or wholesaler would be accepted.

      Run for a Memory 5K in Millstone on May 30
            The "Run for a Memory" 5K, which benefits the John W. Petrella Jr. Scholarship Fund, will start at 9 a.m. May 30 at the Millstone Township Primary School on Schoolhouse Road.

      Allentown First Aid Squad open house
            The Allentown First Aid Squad will host an open house from noon to 4 p.m. May 17 at its headquarters building, 70 Waker Drive on Route 526, Allentown. The Allentown First Aid Squad is a volunteer organization that provides emergency medical services to all residents in Allentown and Upper Freehold.

            The Allentown Lions Club Memorial Day parade will be held rain or shine beginning 10 a.m. on May 25. Visit www.AllentownLions.com for more details. Due to the closures of Main and High streets, the suggested arrival time is 9:30 a.m. A Memorial Day service will follow the parade at the Upper Freehold Regional Elementary School, High Street.

      'Bee-ginning Beekeepers' slated for May 21-23
            The New Jersey Department of Agriculture, in conjunction with Rutgers University and the New Jersey Beekeepers Association, will offer "Bee-ginning Beekeepers," May 21- 23 to encourage new beekeepers. The course is designed to provide the necessary information needed for new beekeepers to start and care for a honeybee colony.

      Scholarships open to health care students
            The Joseph E. Enright Foundation is offering scholarships for students who are pursing a field in health care, including but not limited to nursing, radiology, medical and pharmacology. Students who reside in central to northern New Jersey are encouraged to apply. Each scholarship award is $1,000.

      Wyldlife to host fundraiser dinner
            The Millstone Wyldlife/Younglife Youth Group is hosting its sixth annual summer camp spaghetti dinner fundraiser 5-8 p.m. May 19 at the Millstone Elks Lodge, Burnt Tavern Road, in the Clarksburg section of Millstone. The event will offer all-you-care-to-eat pasta, salad, bread and dessert for a price of $8 for adults and $5 for children under 12.

      Garden Club will discuss bulb planting
            Patrice McCoy, a graduate of the first Master Gardener class of Monmouth County in 1999, will share her knowledge and experience of spring bulbs at the May 14 meeting of the Allentown Garden Club.       Turkey Swamp Park to host fishing derby
            Drop a line and join the fun during the Children's Fishing Derby held as part of the Monmouth County Park System's Outdoor Adventure Expo on May 17. Competitors in the derby, set for noon to 2 p.m. at Turkey Swamp Park in Freehold Township, will have plenty of time to check out the rest of the expo, which starts at 11 a.m. and continues to 5 p.m.

      Roosevelt will host community dance
            Roosevelt residents are invited to a community dance night 7-9 p.m. May 16 at the Roosevelt School, 2 School Lane. Candace Woodward-Clough will offer an hour of instruction on various types of dances, to be based upon the interest of those attending. The remaining two hours will be devoted to an open dance party. Adults and children are welcome. The cost is $5 per person.
