      U.F., Allentown voters say yes to school budget
      Two incumbents, one newbie elected to regional board
            Allentown and Upper Freehold voters took to the polls April 21 and the majority showed support for the $32.5 million Upper Freehold Regional School District budget. Borough voters approved the spending plan in a vote of 133-102 and township voters marked their approval in a vote of 429- 424, according to Monmouth County Board of Election results.

      Millstone school budget defeated by 278 votes
      Superintendent says any cuts would affect K-8 programs
            As they have for the past several years, Millstone voters rejected the school budget in the school board election. This year's $32.8 million budget met with resounding defeat at the polls April 21 in a vote of 691-413. Had the budget passed, a household assessed at the township's average of $408,600 would have seen a tax increase of $455.

      Dreifus bids BOE farewell
            UPPER FREEHOLD — Longtime Board of Education member Laura Dreifus will be stepping down now that the election is over. Dreifus, who also serves as the Millstone representative to the Upper Freehold Regional Board of Education, decided not to seek another term on the board. She began her service to the board in October 1999.
