Raymond R. Helsel
      Mr. Helsel, 85, of the Cream Ridge section of Upper Freehold, died March 16, 2009, at Bartley Health Care, Jackson. He was a graduate of Trenton High School class of 1942 and Rider University, Lawrenceville. Mr. Helsel was a retired auditor/administrator for the state of New Jersey in the division of motor vehicles and the office of the attorney general.

      Mrs. Van Derveer, 100, of Applewood Estates, Freehold Township, died March 12, 2009. Born in Farmingdale, she had lived in Freehold since 1930. Mrs. Van Derveer was an elementary school teacher for many years in Asbury Park, Freehold Township and Howell. As a volunteer, she knitted over 1,000 baby hats for newborns at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Mrs.

      Mrs. Padovano, 84, a resident of Morganville for the past 10 years, died March 4, 2009, at CentraState Medical Center in Freehold Township. She worked for Alston Co., Jersey City, making jewelry boxes for 20 years before retiring in 1988. Mrs. Padovano was predeceased by her husband, Arsenio, in 1986.

William David Rakes
      Mr. Rakes, 56, of Jackson, died March 2, 2009, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold, after a battle with cancer. He had been employed by the Montgomery Care Center, Freehold Township, and for the last 12 years was an employee of Quest Diagnostics, East Brunswick. Mr. Rakes was a U.S. Air Force veteran.
