Litterbugs need to be held accountable
It is great that our residents are committed to dealing with cleaning up. We have done extensive cleaning up on our property along Millstone Road multiple times over the last five years. We have also seen volunteers and Girl Scouts clean up. Many thanks to these groups.
However, every single week, particularly on weekends, it is common to see vehicles driving by and the drivers/passengers throw out beer cans and assorted trash casually along the roadside. Sadly several of these people appear to be Millstone residents.
My question is, are there not ordinances against throwing trash out of vehicles onto the roadway, drinking and driving and throwing out alcohol bottles and beer cans out of speeding vehicles? If not, perhaps we need to establish and enforce such ordinances. While volunteer's cleaning up resolves the issue temporarily, more needs to be done to hold these "litterbugs" accountable for their repeated unacceptable behavior.
