Mr. Mezey, 80, a resident of Manalapan for 45 years, died Feb. 9, 2009, at Raritan Bay Medical Center in Old Bridge. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he was an insurance underwriter for Home Insurance Co. in Short Hills until his retirement in 1984. Mr. Mezey was predeceased by his wife, Ellen, in 1995. He is survived by his two sons; Bryant of Helmetta and Craig of Ocala, Fla.; a daughter; Karin of Manalapan; a sister, Lois of Mechanicsburg, Pa.; and two granddaughters. A funeral service was held at the Freeman Funeral Home, Manalapan, followed by interment at Old Tennent Cemetery in Manalapan. Memorial donations may be made to the ASPCA.
