Mrs. Buckalew, 81, of Manalapan, died Oct. 15, 2008, at Kimball Medical Center, Lakewood. She was born in Jamesburg and had resided in Millstone before moving to Manalapan. Mrs. Buckalew was a 41-year member of the Millstone Township Fire Company Auxiliary. Her husband of 63 years, Joseph "Uncle Buck" Buckalew, died in 2007. Surviving are a sister, Cynthia Higgins, Freehold; many nieces and nephews including Jim and Dawn Higgins with whom she lived and Melissa and James Storey, Jackson. Funeral services were held at the Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold, followed by interment at Emley's Hill Cemetery, Upper Freehold Township.
