      Medical error info should be available
            Over 98,000 people die each year as a result of preventable medical errors. A plane crash would need to occur every day in the United States for an entire year to even come close to the preventable medical error death toll. When an airplane crashes, we know when, where and most times, why the plane crashed.

      Preservation pipeline slowing to a trickle
            The last of New Jersey's farmland preservation funding was allocated at the end of July. The last of its open space and historic preservation funds will be officially committed to projects this fall. Then the preservation pipeline will run dry — unless the state Legislature acts quickly to replenish funding for the Garden State Preservation Trust (GSPT).

            The Jersey Shore Partnership, on behalf of everyone who enjoys the shore, thanks the legislators who helped preserve the annual $25 million stable source of funding for shore protection and beach renourishment. The Partnership understands the tight fiscal times everyone is facing, but New Jersey has become a leader in shore protection.

            The article "St. Joseph's subdivision plan met with disapproval" in the Aug. 21 edition of the Examiner contained a misplaced comma that identified Ed Herrschaft, 94, Stillhouse Road. Herrschaft lives at 94 Herrschaft Road and is not 94 years old. We regret the error.
