Allentown Garden Club to hold meeting Sept. 11

Hank Schannen, owner of RareFind Nursery in Jackson, will discuss "Azaleas and Rhododendrons: Past, Present and Future" at the 7 p.m. Sept. 11 meeting of the Allentown Garden Club.

A collector and hybridizer of rhododendrons, Schannen has been a recipient of the Gold Medal of the American Rhododendron Society and a former board member of the Rhododendron Species Foundation. He also collects Japanese maples, hollies and magnolias. He will share his expertise and knowledge of these and other plants at the meeting, which will take place at the AllentownMethodist Church on Church Street in Allentown. All are welcome to attend.
