St. Joseph's youth group to hold meeting Aug. 10
      St. Joseph's Church, Millstone, will hold the second of two kickoff meetings for its two new youth groups. The meeting for the high school youth group, open to those entering grades 9-12, was held Aug. 3. A similar meeting will be held at 11 a.m. Aug. 10 for the junior youth group, which is open to those entering grades 7 and 8.

Jewish Heritage Museum hosts Jacob Landau event
      The Jewish Heritage Museum of Monmouth County in Freehold Township will present "Jacob Landau: Humanist and Visionary" (1917-2001) from 2-5:30 p.m. Sept. 14 in collaboration with the Jacob Landau Institute. The gala reception and fundraising event will feature a 3 p.m. talk on Landau's "Holocaust Suite" by Roosevelt's David Herrstrom and a 3:30 p.m.

      This year's Motorcycle Cruise for Prevention, sponsored by Upper Freehold/Allentown Alliance to Prevent Alcoholism and Drug Abuse, will be held 5-9 p.m. Aug. 13 at Byron Johnson Recreation Park on Ellisdale Road, Allentown. Motorcycle owners can show off their bike and compete for prizes.

Balladeer of Celtic music slated to perform Aug. 9
      Charlie Zahm, balladeer of Celtic and Irish music, will perform 7:30-9:30 p.m. Aug. 9 at Ye Old Yellow Meetinghouse, 70 Yellow Meetinghouse Road, Upper Freehold. Admission is free. Those arriving at 6 p.m. can picnic with their own food on the lawn while listening to Mick McCabe play the bagpipe. Guests are invited to wear early American dress, if desired.

      A "Poker Run Fun Charity Trail Ride" will take place in the Colliers Mills Wildlife Park in Ocean County on Oct. 18. The trail ride, hosted by In Recess Farm, will benefit the Reindancer Therapeutic Riding Center in New Egypt.

      The district will be conducting a series of electronic surveys regarding school related issues throughout the school year. To better serve the learning community, it is requesting the public's assistance. ..The first survey's topic, "Defeated 2008- 2009 School Budget," will be available July 17-Aug. 14 and will be on the district's Web site, www.millstone.k12.nj.
