      Millstone church collects wearable goods for needy
            The Christian Education Committee of the United Presbyterian Church of Millstone is sponsoring a used clothing drive from 9 a.m. to noon Aug. 9. The event will take place in the church parking lot at 211 Millstone Road, in the Perrineville section of Millstone.

      Bus trip to visit Kitchen Kettle Village, Amish
            The Millstone Senior Citizens Organization is sponsoring a bus trip to Pennsylvania on Aug. 14. There will be a tour of Amish homes and a visit to the Kitchen Kettle Village. The cost of the trip, which includes lunch, is $60. The bus will leave the Community Center on Stagecoach Road at 8 a.m.

      Millstone Community Farm Market now open
            The Millstone Township Agricultural Advisory Council is sponsoring a Community Farm Market. The Farm Market will take place, rain or shine, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. every Saturday through Oct. 25 at Wagner Farm Park located at the corner of Baird and Woodville Roads in Millstone.       Summer camp programs still available in Millstone
            Millstone Township Community Education still has openings available in the following summer camp programs: "Computertymes Computer Camp," for children 4-6 years old, offered 9:30 a.m.- noon or 12:30-3 p.m. July 21-25 at the Millstone Middle School, room 312. Children become "computer detectives" and go on computer learning adventures to imaginative lands. The fee is $125.

      Local residents graduate from fire academy
            The Monmouth County Fire Academy in Howell graduated 72 volunteers from Firefighter 1 Classes No. 75 and No. 76 on May 28, including the following local residents: John Butera of Millstone, Sean Spooner of Millstone and David M. Walter of Allentown.

      Allentown Art Guild has new installation at bank
            The Allentown Art Guild has a new art installation in The Bank on S Main Street in Allentown. Every three months, the guild hangs a new exhibit of members' works in the bank's lobby. The present show will be up until the first week in August.

      Farm Sanctuary president to hold book signing
            A book presentation and signing by Farm Sanctuary president and co-founder Gene Baur will be held 7-9 p.m. July 23 at Borders Freehold Raceway Mall, 3710 Route 9, Freehold. All of the proceeds from Baur's book, "Farm Sanctuary: Changing Hearts and Minds About Animals and Food," will be donated to Farm Sanctuary, an organization with shelters in Watkins Glen, N.Y.

      New session of 'Dancing by Peddie Lake' offered
            The summer session of "Dancing by the Peddie Lake," a four-week class offering instruction in swing, fox trot, waltz and Latin dancing, will be held at 112 Etra Road, Hightstown. Classes will begin Aug. 8, starting at 7:30 p.m. for beginners and 8:30 p.m. for intermediate students. Class size is limited.

      SRF needs boarding facilities in New Jersey
            The Standardbred Retirement Foundation, Freehold, is looking for affordable boarding facilities in New Jersey. A nonprofit organization, SRF has made over 2,000 adoptions and currently supports and manages more than 120 horses, both useful and companion animals, the majority of which are in boarding facilities along the East Coast.

      4-H arts camp will be held at Camp Nomoco
            The fifth annual 4-H Arts Camp will be held from 11 a.m. Aug. 22 to noon Aug. 24 at Camp Nomoco, Turkey Swamp Park, Freehold Township. Youths in grades K-12 can register for the entire weekend with a sleepover or can attend on a daily basis for one or more days. Cost is $15 for the entire weekend and $5 for single days.
