Long-term planning should include a central New Jersey rail line
      Your article on the Monmouth, Ocean, Middlesex (MOM) passenger train line is a sad reminder of the slow pace we are making in expanding much needed rail service in New Jersey. As reported by the Newark Star-Ledger on Jan. 24, 2008, a majority of residents living near the proposed MOM line want the service in order to reduce their commute time and ease congested roads.

      Over the past week we have heard many predictions of destruction and doom with calls for resistance from towns vowing to fight the recent legislative action to ban Regional Contribution Agreements - the loophole in our fair housing law that for two decades allowed New Jersey's wealthiest towns to pay poor communities to take their affordable housing.

Let health care reform in the Garden State begin
      With the passage of S-1557, the New Jersey Legislature took a big first step toward health care reform in New Jersey. S-1557 mandates that New Jersey's children have health insurance, and sets forth market reforms that will bring younger people into the individual insurance market.
