      Digital art will pop up in unexpected places
            The Roosevelt Arts Project will present "Digital/Context" 2-5 p.m. May 17 at borough hall and various other locations around Roosevelt. Roosevelt artists/composers Brad Garton andWiska Radkiewicz will show digital art in unexpected places. There is a suggested donation of $5 per person for this event.             As part of its history at Heritage Park program, the Allentown-Upper Freehold Historical Society will host a lecture by historian and naturalist Brenda Davis. More than 1,000 Lenni Lenape Indians once lived inMonmouth County with at least one large settlement and two smaller settlements abiding in Heritage Park.

      Suicide prevention walk seeks more N.J. participants
            Registration is now open for theAmerican Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP)'s New York City Out of the Darkness Overnight Walk on June 7-8. The 20-mile walk from sunset to sunrise will raise funds and awareness for suicide prevention projects, scientific research and support programs for survivors of suicide loss.

      Local auditions set for 'One Night on Broadway'
            The new Millstone Performing Arts Center, 5 Dawson Court, in the Perrineville section of Millstone, will hold auditions for "One Night on Broadway" on May 12 and 15 from 7 to 9 p.m. and May 17 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The show will be a compilation of Broadway highlights.

            The Upper Freehold Regional Education Foundation (UFREF) will host its first golf outing on June 9 at the Cream Ridge Golf Club in Upper Freehold. All proceeds from the event will go toward the foundation's grant programs in support of the Upper Freehold Regional School District.

      Lady Redbirds have AHS throw blankets for sale
            The Allentown High School Lady Redbird Soccer program is selling throw blankets that depict various high school sports around the Redbird logo. The blankets cost $35 each. Proceeds from the fundraiser will go toward the growth and instruction of the Lady Redbird soccer program.

      New grants encourage creativity in the aging
            The National Endowment for the Arts has new grant guidelines to actively engage olderAmericans in the disciplines of literature and/or music. Approximately 15 grants will be awarded in the amount of $15,000 or $25,000 and require a one-to-one match. Applications must be submitted via www.grants.gov by May 23 for project support that would begin after Jan. 1, 2009.

      Camp Invention coming to Millstone this summer
            Camp Invention is scheduled to take place from July 14-18 at the Millstone Township Middle School. The weeklong summer enrichment program fosters creativity, teamwork, inventive thinking skills and science literacy. Joanne Schiumo, a teacher at Millstone Township Primary School, has been named the 2008 camp director.

      Rev. Merton Steelman named grand marshal
            The Rev. Merton A. Steelman, pastor of the United Methodist Church of Allentown, has been selected to be the grandmarshal of the 55th Allentown Memorial Day parade to be heldMay 26. Steelman was born and raised in Vineland. As a youth, he was very active in his church and the Boy Scouts. He achieved the rank of Eagle Scout and was inducted into the Order of theArrow.
