      Don't be a party to underage drinking
            April is Alcohol Awareness Month, and it's a good opportunity to start talking to your child about this subject. As young people enter adolescence and begin to experiment with risk-taking behaviors, alcohol use is often one rite of passage in which many teens participate.

      Crohn's disease information should be brought to public attention
            It was wonderful to read a front story focused on one young woman's determination to raise awareness for Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis (UC). As stated in the article ("Young Woman Learns to Live With Crohn's," Examiner, April 17, 2008), there are many thousands of people in New Jersey alone who suffer from these devastating and often debilitating diseases.

            Jon Corzine is my nominee for a Profile in Courage. The governor has given New Jerseyans the disastrous facts about the state's finances. He has presented his unpopular plans to help turn the picture around. Some politicians are telling us there are much easier solutions because that's what we want to hear and because it will help get them reelected.
