Local charter boats picking up steam, thanks to warmer weather

      The Raritan Bay gave up a steady pick of flounder this past week. Keyport, Morgan Creek and Union Beach were hot spots.Anglers did manage to catch and release a few reported bass as well. Most charters had to work extra hard to get to their flounder limits. Sandworms, clams, mussels and plenty of chum are the main ingredients, and the bait shops are stocked with them.

      The Allentown Charge U13 girls soccer team knotted a 3-3 tie at Freehold on a cold and blustery afternoon.While the play was occasionally sloppy by both teams and the referee, the girls played hard, creating numerous scoring opportunities for Allentown that just didn't find the back of the net.
