Perretti Farms receives bonus award from SBOA-NJ

Perretti Farms was the most successful standardbred breeding farm in New Jersey in 2007. As a result, the Cream Ridge farm received a $82,568.70 bonus from the Standardbred Breeders and OwnersAssociation of New Jersey for its Mare Residency program.

The program, which started in 2006, offers a 10 percent bonus to the breeders of mares who reside in New Jersey (for 270 days or more) in the year of conception. It awardedmore than $125,000 in 2007.

The SBOA-NJ program applied to foals of 2004 (3-year-olds of 2007) and foals of 2005 (2-year-olds of 2007) who competed and won money in New Jersey Sire Stakes pari-mutuel and Green Acres programs.

The eligible New Jersey-sired fillies and colts produced at Perretti Farms topped all breeding operations in the state with offspring earning more than $825,000 in NJSS races.

This year, the Mare Residency program awardedmore than $125,000 in bonuses.

Kentuckiana FarmsGeneral Partnership and its founder, TomCrouch,was named the SBOA-NJ's 2007 Breeder of the Year.

A quarter of all the 2007 divisional champions in harness racing were the product of Kentuckiana Farms in Fayette County, Ky. Three of Kentuckiana Farms' stallions were based in New Egypt at Continental Farms, the former Egyptian Acres of the late Hall of Famer Stanley Dancer. Bill Smythe is the farm manager of Continental Farms.

"It is a great honor to be recognized as New Jersey Breeder of the Year," said Bob Brady, a Kentuckiana partner. "2007 had been an exciting year for Kentuckiana Farms, having bred, raised or sold 11 national season's leaders and three divisional champions in Mystical Sunshine, Mister Big and Tell All.

"TheNewJersey breeding programis vitally important to the overall health of the standardbred industry," he added.

"Our New Jersey operation has been a key component toKentuckiana's overall success. Being able to showcase at theMeadowlands has played a huge role in this success."
