      Despite losing three players to graduation, New Egypt High School boys basketball coach Jay Corby is extremely optimistic as the 2007-08 campaign rapidly approaches. The Warriors, who finished with a disappointing 10-15 overall mark last year, open their season on the road Dec. 14 against an always-tough Florence High School squad.

Not many keepers along the Jersey coastline

      Where are the keepers? Another week has passed with solid numbers of bass caught along the coast. Anglers are playing catch and release in double-digits with bass just under 28 inches. Keepers are hard to come by so far. Capt. Greg on the Golden Eagle fished from Long Branch to Sea Bright and produced plenty of short stripers with a mix of some big bluefish.

Sports Shorts
      UFA40 were at home on Sunday to a team from Sayreville. With a light dusting of overnight snow, and sub zero temperatures at game time, it was probably one of the few games going on in the county that morning. From the kick off UFA pretty well took control of the match, pressing forward and peppering the visitors goal with several shots.

      Junior forward J.R. Inman (Pomona, N.Y.) posted his second double-digit game against Princeton in as many years, totaling 16 points to lead the Scarlet Knights to a 54-50 comeback win over the Tigers on Saturday, Dec. 1 at the RAC. RU improves to 5-2 and a perfect 5-0 at home with the victory, while Princeton drops to 2-5.
