Few bass are keepers for local fishermen

      Fishing remained solid throughout the past week, with schools of bass and big blues chasing bait from Sandy Hook to Barnegat Light. The story was the same this week: find the birds, and fish hard. Anglers jigged for bass and blues while constantly positioning themselves with the moving schools.

      UFA 40 was in action this weekend against East Brunswick. The game was played on a brand-new, all-weather turf field, which allowed for a high-speed game. The team was tested early and often as the home team pressed, trying to get the go-ahead goal. Chris Cochran made his debut in goal in place of the regular keeper, Martin Scarano, who is out with a long-term injury.
