A state Department of Agriculture farm tour for state legislators on July 31 included a stop at the state's largest standardbred breeding farm, Perretti Farms in Cream Ridge. The 2005 Harness Horse of the Year, Rocknroll Hanover, now stands as a stallion at the farm. Anthony Perretti is the general manager of the farm. Other farms that were visited on the tour were the Horse Park of New Jersey in Upper Freehold Township, Battleview Orchards, Manalapan Township, and Four Seasons Nursery, Millstone Township.
Assemblyman Ronald Dancer, (R-District 3) of New Egypt, was among the legislators on the tour. Others were Assemblyman Douglas Fisher (D-District 3) of Brideton, Assemblywoman Marci Karrow (R-District 23) of Flemington and Assembly Speaker Joseph Roberts Jr. (D-District 5).
Manalapan Parks and Recreation is sponsoring the Rising Star Soccer Camp Inc. from Monday through Aug. 17 at Manalapan High School. The camp will run from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. each day. Rising Star Soccer Camp Inc. will also be in Freehold Township Aug. 20-24 at the M.W. Errickson School on Route 524. The camp will have the same daily hours, 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The camp is open to both boys and girls ages 7-14 (team discounts are available). Camps directors are John Natoli, the Manalapan High School boys soccer team head coach, and Rick Garretson, the Manalapan High School girls varsity soccer coach. The Central Jersey Tornado, a 12U girls softball team, is seeking experienced players to fill its 2007-08 roster. Preferably, the girls will have a 1995 birth date. All positions are welcome including one pitcher, one catcher, one infielder and one outfielder. The Tornado practices and plays in the fall, works out all winter and will play a full spring/summer tournament schedule. Coaches include current high school varsity coaches and former players.
