      Board should not discuss landowner equity
            Over the past 2.5 years, the Upper Freehold Planning Board has been wrestling with the land use component of the master plan. Many ideas have been floated, not the least of which were hamlets and village centers. I might add that these ideas weren't the brain children of the Planning Board members themselves, but of the township planner, Mark Remsa.

      Can smarter planning save our open space?
            A special fund set up in the 1990s to buy open space in New Jersey is expected to run out of money in July. Media attention has focused almost exclusively on how to raise the money to replenish the fund.

      Career firefighter seeks peace of mind for family, neighbors
            It's no wonder we will never see any progression forward in our community when it comes to emergency services. I have never been so embarrassed in my life to think that I am being ridiculed for asking to have our firefighters/emergency medical technicians (EMTs) supplement the first aid squad. I hope all of our volunteers who have heckled me feel real good about themselves.

      New Millstone residents welcomed with rescue of lost dog
            We want to give thanks to Ralph Broccoli, of National City Mortgage, and his family for finding our dog, Lucky, who was lost for 10 days in Millstone/Manalapan. The Broccoli family went out of their way to save our dog and we would like to thank them for that. We just moved into Millstone and our dog being lost was very sad.
