Scholarships offered to those in health-care field
      The CentraState Associated Auxiliaries Scholarship Program is offering three scholarships to individuals who live and volunteer in the CentraState service area. Two scholarships are being awarded to high school seniors and a third to an adult returning to college. All candidates must be pursuing a career in the health care field.

Pancake and sausage breakfast at the firehouse
      The Millstone Township Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary will host a pancake and sausage breakfast on Sunday, April 29 from 8 a.m. to noon at the Millstone Township Firehouse, 461 Stage Coach Road. The cost is $5 per adult and $3 per child age 12 and under. Children 3 years old and under are free.

5K Run at Historic Walnford Park, April 28
      Allies Inc. will hold its second annual Country Roads 5K run at Historic Walnford Park on April 28. Allies Inc. is an independent nonprofit organization that helps individuals with disabilities lead fulfilling lives in the community. In addition to the professionally timed 5K run, a one-mile fun run/walk and a children's run/walk will be offered as well.

Scholarship application now available online
      The New Jersey Association of Conservation Districts 2007 Memorial Conservation Scholarship Application is now available online at www.freeholdscd.org. Two $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to New Jersey college students majoring in a field related to natural resources conservation. The application deadline is May 18, 2007.

      Registration is under way for the Upper Freehold Regional Men's Softball League for the 2007 summer season. New players and returning players from the 2006 season alike must register by May 3. Playing golf on May 14 could save local horses
      The Standardbred Retirement Foundation (SRF) will host its annual charity golf tournament on May 14 at Manalapan's Knob Hill Country Club. All proceeds from the event will benefit the foundation, which finds homes for noncompetitive standardbreds and ensures their lifelong care.

      The Standardbred Breeders and Owners Association of New Jersey will host a New Owners Seminar on Saturday, April 21, at Freehold Raceway for anyone considering the first-time purchase of a racehorse. Scrapbooking event to help troops abroad
      Empress Concepts, a scrapbooking business in Millstone, is sponsoring a scrapbooking event - "Scrappin' for the Troops" - at Wagner Farm Park Recreation Facility in Millstone from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. May 5, which is National Scrapbooking Day. Proceeds from admission and a 50/50 raffle will be donated to the troops overseas.

'Run for a Memory' 5K scheduled for June 9
      The Petrella family's annual "Run for a Memory" is slated this year for June 9 at the Millstone Township Elementary School. The 5K helps the Petrellas raise funds for the John W. Petrella Jr. Scholarship Foundation. The family established the foundation to help classified students in the community in honor of their son, John Jr.

SAT, ACT practice tests slated for April 28
      The Princeton Review will students free practice SAT, ACT or Princeton Review Assessment (PRA) tests April 28. The PRA gives a sample of both SAT and ACT questions on one test. The proctored exams are held under realistic testing conditions. Students will also receive a score analysis to help understand how to focus time and energy when preparing.

May 19 Thunder baseball game to benefit Redbirds
      The Allentown High School baseball team will take on Hightstown High School's baseball team May 9 at Mercer County Waterfront Park. Admission to the event is free. To help offset the cost of the game, players will sell tickets to a May 19 Trenton Thunder game against the Harrisburg Senators. The game will start at 7:05 p.m., with fireworks to follow.
