The New Jersey Society of Optometric Physicians (NJSOP) presented its Young Optometrist of the Year Award to Rajeev K. Raghu, O.D., FAAO, of Langhorne, Pa., during the organization’s recent awards luncheon at Forsgate Country Club, Monroe.
Raghu, whose practice is in Manalapan, has been active in organized optometry since graduating from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in 1998. He has been a member of the NJSOP for eight years and serves on many committees for the 650-member organization. A member in good standing of the American Optometric Association, Raghu currently serves on NJSOP’s Board of Directors and as chair of the Members’ Programs Committee and Young Optometrist Task Force for the organization.
The Young Optometrist of the Year Award is presented to an optometrist whose contributions to the profession and the society are exceptional. To qualify for the award, the recipient must have demonstrated outstanding growth within the profession before age 35.
Raghu’s peers chose him for the award in grateful recognition of his invaluable contributions to the association, the profession of optometry and New Jersey.
Chang Y Jiang of Howell and William Wang of Manalapan have advanced to coordinator as independent distributors for Market America, an innovative product brokerage and Internet marketing company.
The distributors became eligible for the coordinator level after developing two sales and distribution organizations, in addition to selling an established amount of product which produced a first commission check.
By attaining the new coordinator position, the individuals will be recognized in the company’s monthly PowerLine magazine and further listings in the company’s profiles of success annual catalog.

OceanFirst Bank is once again reaching out to its surrounding communities for the holiday season. In an effort to answer the holiday wishes of children across Ocean, Monmouth and Middlesex counties, the bank is participating in the Salvation Army’s Angel Giving Tree program.
From Nov. 27 through Dec. 11, every OceanFirst Bank branch will have a holiday tree in its lobby adorned with angel tags. Each tag will display the age and gender of a child whose family is being served by the Salvation Army. Customers and members of the public are welcome to take a tag, purchase a gift and return it with the tag attached, to their local OceanFirst Bank. The Salvation Army asks that all gifts be new and unopened.
New Jersey Builders Association (NJBA), the state’s largest building industry trade association, has launched the Ask the New Jersey Builder Internet Web site, www.askthenjbuilder.org, to answer homebuyer and homeowner questions on the process of purchasing a new home, as well as maintaining and improving an existing home. The Web site was launched to complement NJBA’s weekly newspaper series, Ask the New Jersey Builder, which is published in newspapers around the state.
