The UFA40 were at home to Sayreville in the penultimate match of the season hoping to continue their recent string of wins. They got off to a fast start when Steve Sinai broke into the box on the right side and fired home a strong shot after just five minutes. He would add another 20 minutes later as UFA controlled play moving the ball around at will. With Didier Mory back after injury, playing in his favored Stopper position, UFA's defense were never threatened in the first 45 minutes. That however would change in the second half when Sayreville pulled one back just after the restart, and then drew even in the 70th minute. Peter Tatninov regained the lead for UFA a few minutes later when he intercepted a poorly taken goal kick by the visitors. Nipping in between defenders to steal the ball he fired it into the goal before the keeper had a chance to react to his cheeky move. The visitors refused to quit; in the 80th minute they pulled level yet again on a defensive error by sweeper Alan Nicholls. He misread a through ball, allowing the Sayreville striker to race by and drive his shot past keeper Martin Scarano. As in the previous week's game, UFA left it to the last minute to snatch the winner. Returning utility player, Patrick Coburn, playing wide on the left collected the ball on the edge of the box , steadied himself and then calmly drove his shot into the back of the net for the game winner. UFA play their final match of the season on Dec. 10 away to Holmdel.

With first place already assured from last week's wins, the Allentown Charge U12 girls soccer team took on the Bricktown Cougars for their final game of the season. It was a celebratory atmosphere where the girls were able to try new positions on the field. The lineup was completely mixed, yet the Charge still controlled the first half with ample scoring opportunities. Taylor Bachik received a pass and looked to be in prime scoring position, only to be taken down by the Cougar defense and a penalty kick was awarded. Jamie Perritt calmly stepped up and blasted the ball past the Bricktown keeper for a 1-0 halftime lead. Krysta Plummer made her debut in goal to begin the second half. Again, scoring opportunities were had, but confusion in the backfield gave Bricktown two first-class scoring chances which they converted on to take a 2-1 lead. Not to be deterred, the Charge pressed and was eventually awarded when Kelly Tohill took a pass, turned and fired the ball into the back right corner of the net. The game ended in a 2-2 tie.

The Charge completed a fantastic fall campaign (11-2-3), securing first place in their division and will play up in the National 2 division in the spring. Team members include Shannon Abbott, Donna Cashin, Taylor Bachik, Bianca Covitz, Kelly Tohill, Stephanie Falsetti, Kimberly Wilson, Erin Primich, Jamie Perritt, Krysta Plummer, Lexie Hay, Lena Campbell, Carly DuBrosky, Kaitlyn Wolfsgruber, and Sarah Mottram.

The Millstone Stingers U-10 boys travel soccer team completed its debut season within MOSA's esteemed premier division. With a record of 3-3-4, they have proudly secured a third-place finish within this elite standing.

The Stingers were on the road recently at the 10th annual Spookarama tournament held in North Brunswick. Their first game was against the Old Bridge Fusion. With both teams squaring off on a cold, windy pitch, they were scoreless entering into the half. With 32 minutes in, midfielder Connor Bednarz converted on a corner kick - shaving a hard knocked ball off the goalpost; the Fusion were able to retaliate a few moments later with a well aimed equalizer taken within the box. With eight minutes remaining on the clock, the Stingers' offensive might pushed hard into the middle of the field; power forwards Jack Giglia and midfielder Zack Reutsch fielded some nice through balls and give-and-gos to keep the pressure on the front end. When a hard-charging keeper came out of the net, striker Conor Murphy face slapped a loose ball to find its way into an abandoned cage for the Stingers' second goal. The Stinger "wall" of Thomas Malik, Jordan Herzog, Kevin Towle and Justin Paglia were able to scramble to the center circle to field back passes from the midfielders and drop back quickly to pick up any nimble forwards. Sharing goal-tending duty were Paul Haines and Nick Pritchard, with nine saves between them to help the Stingers to a 2-1 victory.

Millstone United played their second game against the Sayreville Sharks. The Stingers were muscled with physical play, which compressed both teams to a close, tight game. Stepping up to the challenge were the Stingers' stalwart defense; defensive backs Justin Paglia, Kevin Towle, Jordan Herzog and Thomas Malik were able to provide rhythm in the backfield and collapse any midfield play. With no numbers on the board going into the second half, the Sharks drew first blood with a shot to the low, left corner of the net. The offensive front consisted of Zach Reutsch, Connor Bednarz, Paul Haines and Conor Murphy. With the clock ticking, striker Nick Pritchard was given a penalty kick; he launched a Stinger missile at 30 yards out - while finding its target slightly below the crossbar and over the keeper's fingertips. In the net for most of the game was Jack Giglia, with six saves to assist with an even score. The Stingers ended with a tie of 1-1 against the talented Sharks.

The final game of the MOSA season took the Stingers to Brick for an away game. Driving the ball in the front end of the field were Jack Giglia as striker, and Connor Bednarz, Nick Sample and Bryan Walkley as midfielders. Looping lead passes and perimeter shooting kept the Brick Sharks in shallow water for most of the game. With 36 minutes into the game, Brick notched a goal with a shot that sailed high into the net. Millstone stung back when Bednarz made good on a cross from Sample within the box. Keeping the offensive tempo sharp with frequent substitutions was Conor Murphy, Nick Pritchard, Zach Reutsch and Paul Haines. With four minutes remaining in the game, midfielder Bryan Walkley detonated another Stinger missile at 35 yards out - leaving a helpless keeper with no chance of defusing this solid upper ninety. Sharing keeper duty were Nick Pritchard and Jack Giglia, with numerous saves and daring slide tackles taken within their territory. Again the Stinger defense was a critical reason for their team's victory. Defensive backs David Cifelli, Jordan Herzog, Justin Paglia, Thomas Malik, and Kevin Towle were the key players for Millstone's back end game; their combined efforts gave a win at 2-1, Millstone.

The Millstone United Stingers would like to thank all of their fans and supporters, in particular the families and friends who gave their support and time with all of the practices, games and tournaments.
