Wisteria invites members of the community to purchase pink breast cancer awareness ribbons in honor or in memory of a loved one. For as little as five dollars, a ribbon will be personalized with their honoree's name. The ribbons are being displayed at Wisteria during the month of October. All of the donations from the "Ribbons For Life" event will benefit the Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer.
Vera Bradley, maker of fine quilted handbags and accessories, established the Vera Bradley Foundation in 1998. The foundation is raising funds for breast cancer research at the Indiana University School of Medicine. Stamp cancellation will honor 300th anniversary
A commemorative stamp cancellation and ceremony in honor of Allentown's 300th Anniversary will take place at Borough Hall at 11:30 p.m. on Oct. 28, with dignitaries and other notable invited guests. All are welcomed to attend.
Ladies Auxiliary to hold craft and vendor show

Roosevelt to offer free
rabies clinic for cats, dogs
The Monmouth County Health Department will sponsor a free rabies vaccination clinic for cats and dogs, Oct. 28 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Public Works Garage on Rochdale Avenue in Roosevelt. Anyone who is a New Jersey resident may bring their cats as well as their dogs to the clinic. All pets vaccinated at this clinic must receive a rabies booster shot, either in one or three years. For all pets due in three years for a rabies booster, the New Jersey State Department of Health recommends that owners return instead, in two years to receive their pets rabies booster shot. This shortened time span between rabies shots will provide added protection against rabies exposures. Contact the Monmouth County Health Department at (732) 431-7456.
Roosevelt sponsors trip to George Street Playhouse
The Roosevelt Recreation Department is sponsoring a trip to the George Street Playhouse to see "The Value of Names" starring Jack Klugman, Nov. 18. The trip will depart the Roosevelt Public School parking lot at 12:30 p.m. and return at 5 p.m. The cost per person is $40 and includes a ticket and transportation. Participants under 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. Deadline for registration is Nov. 10. The Millstone Township Women's Organization (MTWO), will be hosting its second annual 'Shop 'til You Drop" vendor night Nov. 17 from 7-10 p.m., at the Millstone Township Elementary School. Home demonstration vendors & crafters wanted, to sell items to local shoppers for the holiday season. Spaces are $50 (including table); some limited spaces with electric. Halloween fundraiser
for TRF scheduled
The annual Halloween Hunter Pace, a fundraiser for the Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation (TRF), will be held October 29 at Assunpink WMA, Upper Freehold on East Branch Road. Teams of 2 or 3 will depart between 8:30 and 11:30 a.m. from the log cabin. Refreshments and carrots for the horses will be provided. All riding styles are welcome; helmets required. Get those measuring tapes out to finally spruce up that window, and learn how to make a basic rod-pocket valance. Upon registration, an e-mail will be sent out detailing the supplies needed. At the end of the evening, participants will have created a ready-to-hang window treatment. The class will be held from 7-9 p.m. Nov. 1 at the Millstone Township Middle School (in the library), 308 Millstone Road, Clarksburg. Cost is $20. Annual Harvest Dance scheduled for Nov. 4
The Millstone Township Hospital Auxiliary is holding its annual Harvest Dance, sponsored by the Millstone Elks Lodge 2613, on Saturday, Nov. 4 from 7-11 p.m. The lodge is located on Burnt Tavern Road in Millstone Township. There will be a buffet dinner, cash bar, DJ and prizes. Tickets are $20 per person. The dress is very casual. All funds from this event will benefit CentraState Medical Center. Annual Covered Dish Luncheon scheduled
The 83rd annual Covered Dish Luncheon, sponsored by the Allentown/Upper Freehold/ Washington Township Branch of NGA, will be held Nov. 10 at noon at St. John's Catholic Church, Allentown-Yardville Road, Allentown. Handicapped accessible. Agencies involved with this year's distribution of new clothing are the New Lisbon Developmental Center, Anchor House, The Mount Carmel Guild, The Children's Home Society, Womanspace and the Trenton Psychiatric Center.
