Local artist to give interior design demos in Cranbury

ROOSEVELT - A borough artist will conduct free demonstrations on custom wall finishes and home decoration at the local Crate & Barrel in October.

Roosevelt resident Jim Hayden, who owns The Eleanor Gallery in Roosevelt, will provide the interior decorating demos from 10 a.m. to noon on Oct. 7 and from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Oct. 8 at the Crate & Barrel Outlet, located at 315 Half Acre Road in Cranbury, according to a press release regarding the event.

With more than 20 years of practical experience and more than a dozen years of professional expertise, Hayden can offer the "do's" and "don'ts" in wall painting and decorative finish applications, according to the release.

During the demonstrations, Hayden will provide examples of several wall (faux) finishes. Each demonstration will be followed by an open forum where participants can ask questions.

The Crate & Barrel Outlet hopes anyone who attends the demos will walk away feeling confident to incorporate many of the ideas presented into their own home's style, according to the press release.

Hayden owns an interior-decorating business called jimdesigns. Established in 1994, jimdesigns creates artistic wall finishes using graphics, fine art, lighting and select furnishings to complement clients' requests, according to the release.

A member of the Roosevelt Arts Project council, Hayden is also the owner of The Eleanor Gallery, which opened last year in Roosevelt. Located in the town's historic factory on Oscar Drive, the gallery offers art exhibitions of well-established and upcoming artists from the local area. Hayden was also recently commissioned to provide a mural for the Quark Project in Princeton, according to the press release.
