Foundation will aid brain cancer victims
My late husband, Kenny Martin, was a wonderful generous and caring man, who would always be there to lend a hand to anyone who needed help. For 22 months, he bravely battled an extremely aggressive malignant brain tumor known as a glioblastoma.
During this period, the tumor had to be surgically removed four times. In addition, my husband suffered three severe staph infections, a brain abscess, a blood clot in his lungs and shingles, which is one of the many complications of chemotherapy and radiation treatments.
Through all of this, Kenny remained strong, determined and eternally optimistic. Even when he was weak, sick and loosing himself; his words to everyone were, "It's all good." To him, quitting was never an option. He fought the good fight until the bitter end. Ultimately, cancer stole his life, a life filled with many plans, wonderful dreams, and lots of golf.
In honor of Kenny, I have established the Kenneth Scott Martin Memorial Fund. All money raised through the fund will directly benefit the David S. Zocchi Brain Tumor Center at Monmouth Medical Center.
This will help others receive the same wonderful and attentive care my husband received in his fight against cancer. Donations will help provide amenities and resources for brain tumor patients. Also, a plaque in Kenny's honor will be placed in the main lobby of the hospital.
Donations may be sent to Monmouth Medical Center Foundation, 300 Second Ave., Long Branch, NJ 07740. Thank you on behalf of Kenny, who was a true inspiration. He was a man who fought with everything he had and was truly amazing to the end.
