Met Museum's floral designer to give lecture

The Two Rivers Antiques Show and Garden Tour will welcome Remco Van Vliet from New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art to speak at the 2006 Garden Lecture and Luncheon, May 17 at the Navesink Country Club, Middletown.

Van Vliet is a third-generation floral designer trained as a master florist. He studied art history and graphic design in Holland and designed many events throughout Europe.

He came to New York in 1994 and now designs the grand arrangements in the Great Hall of the Metropolitan Museum of Art and is the decorator for its in-house events.

The lecture will kick off the Two Rivers Antiques Show and Garden Tour's main event, which will be held June 9-11 at the Red Bank Armory Ice Complex. Proceeds from both the lecture and the two-day June event will go to the Jacqueline M. Wilentz Comprehensive Breast Center at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch.

Tickets are $65. For reservations, call the Monmouth Medical Center Foundation at (732) 923-6886 or visit www.mhcf.org and click on Foundation.
