Harlem Wizards to play at Allentown H.S.

The world-famous Harlem Wizards basketball team has been performing trick hoops and alley-oops around the globe since 1962, and on April 8 they'll bring their magic to Allentown High School.

The event will also feature a squad of local "stars" - school and community leaders - as well as student participation in the half-time show and a free autograph session.

Doors will open at 6 p.m. and the activities are set to begin at 7 p.m. Refreshments and souvenirs will be available.

Tickets are $10 and may be purchased at Woody's Town Cafe, the Allentown Pharmacy, Bloomers & Things, Allentown Borough Hall, Cream Ridge Golf Club, the Upper Freehold Municipal Building, or by calling (609) 259-6019.

The event is sponsored by the Upper Freehold/Allentown Alliance to Prevent Alcoholism & Drug Abuse.

Assunpink birding tour set for March 25

Scott Barnes, a senior naturalist at the Sandy Hook Bird Observatory, will lead a birding tour of the Assunpink Wildlife Management Area, Roosevelt, March 25, to look for early songbirds, hawks and waterfowl. Participants should meet at 8:15 a.m. in the main parking lot.

The fee is $15 for members of the New Jersey Audubon Society and $20 for all others. To register, call the Sandy Hook Observatory at (732) 872-2500.

available in Allentown

In celebration of Allentown's 300th year and Upper Freehold's 275th year anniversaries in 2006, the Allentown-Upper Freehold Historical Society has reprinted Randall Gabrielan's Allentown and Upper Freehold Township historical image book, originally published in 2001. The books are available for $20 each at the Allentown Library, Allentown Barber Shop, Down Home Country, Hoffmann's Bakery, Necessities for the Heart and Off the Wall. Proceeds from the book benefit the Historical Society.

Hope Fire Co. to host fish fry dinner March 31

The Hope Fire Company will hold a fish fry dinner March 31 beginning at noon.

There will be both sit-down dinner and take-out available. The firehouse is located at 82 Route 526, Allentown. For more information, call Jennifer at (609) 259-3480.

Roosevelt Recreation offers dance night, yoga

The borough of Roosevelt Recreation Department has scheduled a Community Dance Night to be held 7-10 p.m. March 25 at the Roosevelt School.

The event will be led by Candace Woodward-Clough, who has extensive training in ballroom dance, jazz, tap, acting and singing.

The night will start with an hour of instruction on various types of dances, based on the interests of those in attendance. The remaining two hours will be devoted to an open dance party.

No dance experience is required, and adults and children are welcome to attend. Light refreshments will be served. The cost is $5 per person.

The department will also continue its yoga program this spring with classes at Roosevelt Borough Hall and Roosevelt Public School. Kym Kulp, a certified yoga instructor who teaches at The Peddie School, instructs the classes.

Classes take place from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., with remaining classes on March 28, April 4, 11, 18, 25 and May 2 and 9. The cost of the program is $80 per person. Walk-ins are welcome.

The department will also sponsor a movie night at 7 p.m. April 8 in the Roosevelt Public School gymnasium. The event will feature the film "Sky High," an action-adventure comedy.
