Rita's Water Ice, which has local franchises in Freehold, at 47 W. Main St., and in Manalapan at 342 Route 9 north, will hold its annual spring giveaway event March 20 from noon to 9 p.m. Anyone who stops by will receive a free, regular-size 10-ounce Italian ice. Rita's has more than 340 locations throughout the East Coast.

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital announced recently that Tiger Schulmann's Karate in Marlboro will be conducting a martial arts fundraiser to benefit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital on April 8.

The money raised at the event will help ensure that children with cancer and other life-threatening diseases will have a better chance to live. To participate in the program, registration information is available by contacting Tiger Schulmann's Karate, (732) 972-2467.

Arlene S. Amtzis of Freehold has opened Major League Bagel, located in Colonial Plaza, 347 W. Main St., Freehold Township. The business is both a bakery and a deli, for retail and corporate accounts, and also features baseball collectibles for sale. All bagels are baked on the premises y bakers with more than 30 years of experience. Major League Bagel is open every day from 5 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Concorde Limousine Inc., Freehold, is now a nationally recognized training center for the National Safety Council, with an on-site certified instructor.

James Garvin, director of safety and training for Concorde, recently completed a three-day course where he received certification as a National Safety Council-certified instructor.

With the knowledge he has gained, Garvin is able to offer practical solutions to the safety challenges his chauffeurs face. He held the first comprehensive, defensive driving improvement course and covered several topics in the eight-hour class.
