Local Girl Scouts to host
The Millstone Township Service Unit of Girl Scouts will present World Thinking Day 2006, an international Girl Scout celebration, on March 4 at the Millstone Township Elementary School cafetorium. There will be items for sale at an international food court, and visitors will have the opportunity to learn about other countries, make a craft, play a game and have some fun. Visitor sessions will be held from 10 a.m. to noon and 1-3 p.m. There is no admission charge, but donations will be accepted. Nonperishable food items, household items, health and beauty items and laundry baskets will be collected at the event and distributed to local senior citizens. Pancake breakfast at Millstone fire house
The Millstone Township Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary will host a pancake and sausage breakfast 7-11 a.m. March 12 at the Millstone fire house, 461 Stagecoach Road/Route 524. Breakfast will include pancakes, sausages, orange juice, coffee, tea and hot chocolate. The cost is $5 per adult, $3 per child ages 3-12, and free for children under 3. Millstone kindergarten registration March 7, 8
Millstone Township School District will hold kindergarten registration 7-9 p.m. March 7 for the last names beginning A-L, and 7-9 p.m. March 8 for last names beginning M-Z. To register, the child must be 5 years of age on or before Oct. 1, 2006, and parents/guardians must complete the kindergarten registration packet and provide the following documentation: the child’s original birth certificate with a raised state seal plus a copy of that birth certificate; a copy of the child’s immunization record to date; and copies of four proofs of residency in Millstone that show current date, name and address (for example, utility bills, deed, driver’s license). Parents are responsible for providing copies of the required documents for registration; school personnel cannot make copies during registration. Anyone who is unable to attend the evening registration may preregister their child. Forms are available on the school’s Web site, www.millstone.k12.nj.us. Registration packets may be returned to the main office between 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. Kindergarten registration forms will not be accepted via the mail. The following requirements must be met before the child can begin school: the child must have had one dose of the varicella vaccine, or a history of chicken pox. Other health requirements are: a complete physical examination performed after Sept. 1, 2005, that includes proof of immunization, including the four-year DPT and polio boosters, a second MMR, and three doses of hepatitis B vaccine. This must be recorded on a school form and signed by the physician. Stamps or counter signatures will not be accepted. The forms can be obtained at the health office or downloaded from the Web site. Hope Fire Co. to host fish fry dinner March 31
The Hope Fire Company will hold a fish fry dinner March 31 beginning at noon. There will be both sit-down dinner and take-out available. The firehouse is located at 82 Route 526, Allentown. Call Jennifer at (609) 259-3480.
Kindermusik classes to be offered in Allentown
Kindermusik, a unique program of learning and enjoyment that nurtures the total development of young children, starting with babies, is offered at the Allentown Presbyterian Church on Route 539 in Allentown. A new session of music classes will be offered at a variety of times on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. The church offers different classes for various age groups. The “Village” class is for babies up to about 18 months. The “Our Time” class is for children ages 1-3 years. The “Imagine That” class is for preschoolers ages 3-4, and the “Family Music Time” class is for families with children of mixed ages. Classes are taught by Pat Weitz, director of the Community Christian Choirs for adults and children. She holds a degree in music education from Mansfield University and has done extensive graduate and continuing education work. She also teaches private voice lessons for all ages. The Villagers of Allentown will meet at 10 a.m. March 8 at the Allentown First Aid Squad building. The program will be “Traveling in the Far East,” presented by Mark Robson. Guests are welcome.
Allentown church to hold Wednesday services
The Allentown Presbyterian Church, 20 High St., will offer a brief midweek service from noon to 12:30 p.m. in Schulte Hall each Wednesday during the Lenten season. The service will be followed by a brown-bag lunch; drinks will be provided. All are welcome.
Tables available for fire company’s flea market
The Hope Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary will hold an inside flea market sale March 11 from 9 a.m to 3 p.m. at the firehouse, 82 Route 526, Allentown. Tables are available to rent for $25.
