The U.S. Small Business Administration is searching for outstanding New Jersey small business owners and small business champions who will be honored during National Small Business Week in the spring.

Nominations are being sought for New Jersey’s Small Business Person of the Year and for outstanding SBA Small Business Champions in the areas of minority, women, veteran, financial services, home-based business, and Small Business Journalist of the Year.

The SBA New Jersey District Office is also seeking candidates for Small Business Exporter of the Year, Young Entrepreneur of the Year, and an SBA Family-owned Business of the Year.

Winners will be recognized at the Ninth Annual New Jersey Small Business Conference, to be held at the Hyatt Hotel in New Brunswick.

Nominations should be submitted to the SBA New Jersey District Office at 2 Gateway Center, 15th Floor, Newark 07102. The deadline for all nominations is Nov. 21. Donna Cardillo, R.N., will present a three-session workshop, “Learn to Speak With Style,” Oct. 25, Nov. 2 and 10, 6-9 p.m., at the Western Monmouth Chamber of Commerce, 17 Broad, St., Freehold. Each session will build on the previous session, but participants may attend any single session. Reservations are required. The fee is $100 for all three sessions, or $40 per single session.

The workshops are organized by the National Association of Women Business Owners Central Jersey Chapter.

Dr. James C. Burden, dentist-owner of Bur-Dent Services Modern Portable Dental Care, Clarksburg section of Millstone, recently began extending care to the residents of western Monmouth County, Monroe Township and eastern Mercer County.

Burden is a general dentist whose practice focuses on providing in-home dental care for homebound, disabled and elderly patients. Services can include X-rays, cleanings, denture fabrication and repair, fillings, crowns, root canals and bridges.
