      Auditions

      The Garden State Philharmonic will hold chorus auditions for singers and an “Unplugged Talent Show” for instrumentalists. The chorus auditions will be held Sept. 28 following the 7:30 p.m. rehearsals, at Toms River Intermediate School East, 1519 Hooper Ave. The “Unplugged Talent Show” for instrumentalists will be held Oct. 22 at 7 p.m. at Toms River Intermediate School East for high school students and adults, solo or group; the audition fee is $15. A piano will be available for accompaniment, there will be no electric instruments, and each performances will be limited to three minutes. The winner will be eligible to perform with the orchestra during its upcoming concert season. Tickets to the talent show are $10 for a family of four and $2 for each additional ticket.

      Brick Children’s Community Theatre will hold auditions for a winter holiday show Sept. 24 at the Brick Civic Center, 401 Chambers Bridge Road. Auditions for ages 4-7 will be held at 1:30 p.m., ages 8-11 at 2:30 p.m., and ages 12 and up at 4 p.m. Details: (732) 920-9041.

      Temple Shalom Players, Aberdeen, has selected “Oklahoma!” as its next play. Auditions will be held Sept. 25 — 6 p.m. for children and 7 p.m. for teens and adults — and Sept. 27 at 7 p.m. for all ages. Callbacks will be held Sept. 28 at 7 p.m. Those auditioning should bring sheet music and be dressed to dance; an accompanist will be provided. Performance dates are Jan. 7, 14 and 21 at 8 p.m. and Jan. 8, 15 and 22 at 3 p.m. Auditions will be held at the temple, 5 Ayrmont Lane, Aberdeen. Details: (732) 566-2621.

      Monmouth Civic Chorus invites experienced singers to audition for the chorus, by appointment. Auditions and chorus rehearsals are held at Trinity Episcopal Church, 65 W. Front St., Red Bank. In the 2005-06 season, the chorus will perform continental classics in November, Handel’s “Messiah” in December, a four-piano spectacular in April, and a celebration of Shakespeare at the Two River Theater in June. The chorus rehearses 7:30-10 p.m. each Tuesday, September through June, and interested singers are invited to attend one of the first rehearsals. The chorus has sung at the cathedrals of Vienna, Florence and the Vatican, as well as Carnegie Hall in New York City and the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark.       Women of Song, a female vocal group, is seeking singers with good sight-reading skills. The group performs a variety of music. Rehearsals are held Friday mornings in the Monmouth County area. Details: Randy Minkin, (732) 787-1697.

      The Heart of New Jersey Chorus, Sweet Adelines International, is seeking new members. There are openings in all voice parts. The chorus recently returned from its annual competition and received the Most Improved Chorus award as well as ribbons for second place in the Small Chorus category.
