MILLSTONE — A local farm will breed Rocknroll Hanover after retiring from racing at the end of the year.

Rocknroll Hanover, winner of the $1.2 million North America Cup and the $500,000 SBOA New Jersey Pacing Classic, will stand at Perretti Farms in Cream Ridge in 2006.

The 3-year-old pacing colt, owned by Jeffrey S. Snyder and Lothlorein Equestrian Center, has won all five of his 2005 starts, earning nearly $1 million. The horse is considered the pre-race favorite for the $1 million Meadowlands Pace on July 16.

In announcing the colt’s breeding future, Bob Marks, spokesman for Perretti Farms, said Rocknroll Hanover will be the ninth stallion to stand at the farm. Perretti Farms also bred Muscles Yankee, considered the No. 1 trotting stallion in the industry; Windsong’s Legacy, the first trotting Triple Crown winner in 32 years; Artiscape, Dream Vacation, Matt’s Scooter, McCardle, Red River Hanover and Revenue, according to Marks.

Chris Castens, executive director of the New Jersey Sire Stakes Program, said, “Once again, the New Jersey Sire Stakes Program will benefit from the sport’s leading racehorses coming to New Jersey to breed.”

Rocknroll Hanover was sired by another registered New Jersey stallion called Western Ideal. That horse was a $190,000 yearling purchase who went on to win $1,439,256 with this year’s 5-for-5 winning streak and a 1:49.4 clocking in the North America Cup at Woodbine.

Trained by Brett Pelling and driven by Brian Sears, Rocknroll Hanover has been named Horse of the Month for May and June by the U.S. Trotting Association.
