JSPRAA (Jersey Shore Public Relations and Advertising Association) will meet at 11:30 a.m. April 1 at Palumbo’s Restaurant, Tinton Falls. Tom DeSanto, executive vice president of creative services for Aloysius, Butler & Clark, will discuss the future of health care marketing.
DeSanto has more than 20 years of experience in health care marketing as a copywriter, creative director and strategist, working with hospitals, health systems, insurers and other health care organizations.

Frank A. Campione, former Monmouth County freeholder and deputy mayor of Freehold, has been selected by the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) Business Advisory Council (BAC) as the 2004 Businessman of the Year from New Jersey. The award will be presented on March 15 in Washington, D.C., featuring special guests President George W. Bush and radio and television personality Sean Hannity. Recipients are selected based on their business leadership and entrepreneurial spirit.
Campione is the founder of the International Education Consortium Inc., an educational organization promoting international summer study programs throughout Italy for American students and nonstudents. He has served as the former deputy mayor of Freehold, as the director of economic development for Monmouth County, and as a member of the Monmouth County Board of Freeholders.
Campione is the recipient of several awards, including the Seton Hall University School of Law and the Rodino Law Society, and was awarded honorary citizenship to the Boys’ Town of Italy. He was selected as Monmouth County Man the Year and was honored as Man of the Year by the Association for Retarded Citizens and the Matawan Italian-American Association. In addition, he was selected by the Sons of Italy as the recipient of the Filippo Mazzei Memorial Award, which acknowledges exceptional career dedication and contributions to the Italian-American community.
He currently serves as the president of the N.J. Coalition of Italian-Americans and was appointed by the governor to serve on the N.J. Ethnic Advisory Council. He has served as a member of the N.J. Alliance of Italian-Americans, the Italian Tribune News, where he assisted in providing aid to earthquake victims in Italy. Because of his humanitarian efforts, he was selected to serve as liaison to the earthquake region in Udine, where he was honored by the Vatican and the government of Italy.
He has served three terms as general chairman of the annual Italian Festival and has been instrumental in raising tens of thousands of dollars for the Garden State Cultural Center Fund, which provides free programs for school children, senior citizens, disabled veterans and the blind. He is the New Jersey-area coordinator for the National Italian American Foundation (NIAF) in Washington, D.C., serves as a member of the board of directors for the Conference of Presidents of Major Italian American Organizations, and is an active member of the Columbus Citizens Foundation in New York as well as the Order of the Sons of Italy in America and the Italian-American Association of Ocean Township.
He has served as president of the United Way of New Jersey, and president and campaign chairman of the United Way of Monmouth County. He is a founding member of the Second Century Foundation, which hosts the “United Way and You” program featured on cable television. He is the immediate past president of the Friends Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and currently serves as a member of the board of the Association for Retarded Citizens Winter Glow Ball Committee.
He earned a bachelor of arts degree and a master’s degree in administration from Seton Hall University, South Orange, a master of arts degree from Niagara (N.Y.) University, and has completed requirements for a doctorate in administration from New York University. He is a graduate of Seton Hall Law School and has studied international law at the University of Parma and Milan law schools, Italy, with a specialty in the laws of European economic community and its impact on the global economy. The U.S. government selected Campione to evaluate the political, economic, business, civic and educational systems in the USSR and Siberia, along with the educational systems in nine European countries.
Campione teaches courses in Italian, Italian cinema, and Italian cooking at Ocean County College, Toms River; Georgian Court College, Lakewood; Brookdale Community College, Lincroft; and Williams-Sonoma stores. He has earned the title of “bon vivant” from the N.J. Supreme Court and is completing his first Italian Cookbook, titled “Italian Cooking by the Legal Gourmet.”
Rita’s Ices, which has 75 locations in New Jersey, will celebrate the first day of spring, March 20, by giving away an estimated 500,000 Italian ices. Anyone stopping by one of Rita’s stores will receive a free regular-size, 10-ounce Italian ice.
The company will also introduce new flavors developed specifically for a particular region.
The local stores are located at 342 Route 9 north in Manalapan, and 47 W. Main St. in Freehold.
Freehold Hyundai has been named to the Hyundai Board of Excellence by Hyundai Motor America. The award recognizes dealerships that have achieved exceptional levels of sales and customer satisfaction over the past year. This is the sixth year the dealership has received this award.
Hyundai Motor America has honored its top dealers through the Board of Excellence program since 1998. Only 81 out of more than 660 dealerships received the recognition this year.
Hyundai established a new all-time annual sales record in 2004, with 418,615 vehicles sold — a 5 percent improvement over 2003 sales. Hyundai Motor America, based in Fountain Valley, Calif., is a subsidiary of Hyundai Motor Co. of Korea.
