Legion and auxiliary thank Allentown Lions Club

A big thanks to the Allentown Lions Club for its continuing support of the American Legion and the American Legion Auxiliary in their support of the Girls State and Boys State Citizenship programs that are held each year.

The Allentown Lions Club has once again, by sponsoring candidates, allowed two girls and two boys from Allentown High School to attend these programs, which are recognized nationally and are also an excellent reference for college applications. Four alternates will also be selected. These programs are open to 11th-grade students who are interested in attending and have contacted their guidance department to schedule an interview. The girls will be interviewed by a representative of the Hamilton Township Unit 31 Auxiliary, and the boys will go before a panel of members of the Hamilton Township Post 31 American Legion.

Outside sponsors are an important part of these programs, since Hamilton Township Post 31 and Auxiliary cover several of the Hamilton schools and also sponsor girls and boys themselves.

Once again, thank you very much for your sponsorships and support you have given us over the years.

Janice Schmitt

president, Auxiliary Unit 31

Larry Wood

Past Commander for Post 31
