"It was a fun day," Helen Varvi said.

The June 5 event at Black Bear Camp was designed to bring parents and their children together for quality time between their busy schedules, she said.

Millstone High School students and community members volunteered their time as judges in the largest fish contest.

Black Bear Camp donated the facility for the day and Dunkin’ Donuts provided coffee, she said.

Hooked on Fishing, Not on Drugs is a national anti-drug program created by the Future Fisherman’s Foundation. The goal is to promote fishing skills, aquatic ecology and conservation while keeping kids drug-free.
