The Allentown United U-12 girls travel soccer team improved its record to nine wins and no losses, beating Berkeley by the final score of 7-0 last Saturday morning. Ashley Perritt, Diana Braun, Carolyn Horner, Brittany Hodul and Amanda Kyle all scored for United, who controlled the game from beginning to end. Berkeley had one opportunity but Ashlee Fortsch made a nice save. The entire team played well.

On Saturday afternoon, United played again, this time against the Toms River Vipers. The Vipers were in third place and had lost to United 1-0 in Toms River. This looked to be a tough match for United. The Allentown girls came out on fire and scored 5 goals in the first 20 minutes of the game to put it away. Ashley Perritt, Diana Braun and Dawn Taylor scored for United. The final score was 8-1, in a well played game by United. The United will play its final game of the season against Beachwood at home Nov. 15 at 11:30am. Beachwood is in second place with an 8-1 record. This will determine first place.

On a perfect Sunday morning for playing soccer, the UFA men’s team played an away game against the Piacenza of Howell. They fell behind early on a mix up with a disputed throw-in, when Piacenza broke away and scored. UFA fell further behind just before the half trailing 2-0.

The second half saw them come out strong, scoring at 5 minutes of play, and then they tied the game on a penalty kick a few minutes later when Dan Caruso was brought down in the box. The game stayed tied, when with 10 minutes to go, UFA went ahead following a series of good moves starting at the back, with Larry Johnson getting the go-ahead goal. It looked like UFA would come away with the win, but with only minutes to go, they conceded a penalty which allowed Piacenza to tie the game. Next week the UFA men are away at Toms River.
