The Allentown United U12 girls travel team played two games over the past week. The United won both games and improved their record to 6-0. Monday afternoon the United played a make-up game against undefeated Beachwood. Beachwood scored first and took the lead in the 10th minute, but the United continued to apply pressure. At the 20th minute of the first half, the United tied the score with a goal from Ashley Perritt after a nice cross from Carolyn Horner. Five minutes later Diana Braun put the United in the lead with a goal. In the second half, Beachwood came out very strong and kept the ball in the United’s end for the first 10 minutes. The United’s defense, led by Meghan Valnoski, Brittany Hodul, Ashley Pereira and Angelique Calise, were on the ball with every play. The United began to push the ball up field and finally took control of the game at the 20th minute when Braun scored her second goal of the game to give the United a 3-1 lead and preserve the victory. The United’s midfield, led by Shelby Doll, Dawn Taylor and Brittany Worral, played a great game. Danielle Turner, Samantha Myers and Brittany Holbrook kept the pressure on the Beachwood defense. Shannon Buckley was fantastic in goal.
The United earned its sixth victory of the season by beating Lacey 5-2. It got goals from Braun, Turner, Hodul and Doll. The United did not play well but were good enough to earn the victory. The United has four games left in the season.
