Resident: tie school tax increase to inflation How do we get a tax increase that is well over the rate of inflation when the voters rejected the bloated Upper Freehold school budget? We are still facing a 5.7 percent increase when the rate of inflation, according to the fed, is only 3.6 percent. This has not been a recent phenomenon. Year after year our tax increases have been much greater than the rate of inflation. Perhaps we need a law that limits the increase to the rate of inflation when budgets are defeated. The will of the voters was not followed. Richard Edgar Upper Freehold |
