The Millstone Strikers, a girls U12 travel soccer team in the Monmouth-Ocean Soccer Association’s National 2-3 division, is seeking additional players for the upcoming fall/spring season. Girls must be born after Aug. 1, 1989 to be eligible. Practice is on Wednesday and Friday nights at the Brandywine Fields in Millstone, with games on Sunday afternoon. The Allentown United U11 travel soccer team continued its winning ways this past Saturday with a hard fought 3-1 victory over the Lakewood Wolfpack. Allentown fell behind 1-0 midway through the first half. They kept their composure and came roaring back with two quick goals by Connor Darrell to regain the lead. Matt Frein and Dean Search lent very strong offensive support to keep the pressure on. The midfield play was especially strong and was one of the keys to the victory. Danny Santos anchored the center midfield for Allentown, aided by strong play on either side by Danny Bailey and Dylan Vaughan. Mik Sowa scored the important insurance goal early in the second half to seal the victory.
Allentown’s goalie, Alex Fortsch, turned away all of Lakewood’s scoring chances as they pressed the attack late in the second half. Allentown’s next game will be against another strong Lakewood team Saturday at Patriots Park at 3 p.m.

The West-Windsor Wildcats U-14 fastpitch softball A team is looking for two or three select players for pitching, shortstop or other utility positions. Players must be accomplished hitters. The team plays fall ball and winter strength and conditioning, and skills clinics are provided for the players. Tryouts are currently under way. The Central Jersey Express U-16 baseball team concluded its season at the Pretzel City Tournament in Reading, Pa., where the Express reached the semifinals and lost to the eventual champion the Canadian Extreme. The Express are made up of area players: Anthony Cangialosi, Peter Eadicicco, Doug Frueh, Mike Henningan, Brian Kulig, Geoff Lau, Chris Marino, John Mazzola, Jordan Noval, Ralph Protano, Kyle St. Angelo, Joe San Pietro, Dave Sauchelli, Phil Tortorelli and John Walsh. The team is coached by Lou Protano and assistant J.P. Noval.
The Jersey Dreamers, an U18 fastpitch softball team, is looking for three or four dedicated, quality players to complete its roster for the 2002 team. The Dreamers are composed of former players from a Premier U16 team, which was the winner of three tournaments before moving up to U18 competition.
