UPPER FREEHOLD — Over the years, township officials have discussed the wastewater issues facing the historic hamlet of Imlaystown with little result.

In 2004, Preservation New Jersey listed it as one of the 10 most endangered historic sites in the state. Eight years after that designation, the village’s deterioration continues.

More than 1,000 truckloads of dirt to be removed from Millstone site

MILLSTONE — A New Egypt-based trucking contractor will soon be removing 29,000 cubic yards of dirt, or approximately 1,300 truckloads, from a Red Valley Road site. At the Feb. 8 Planning Board meeting, the board unanimously approved a soil removal permit for 106 Trenton-Lakewood Road LLC.

UPPER FREEHOLD — While solar and wind power are becoming increasingly popular as alternative energy sources, the township currently has no ordinances in place concerning their use. At the Feb. 9 Planning Board meeting, chairman John Mele said that under present rules and regulations, solar panels on roofs are not permitted anywhere in Upper Freehold.

UPPER FREEHOLD — A new full-day preschool program introduced in the Upper Freehold Regional School District (UFRSD) looks to meet the needs of parents who have requested it while readying youngsters for the school system. Dubbed “Stepping Stones,” the program is slated to kick off in September 2012 with one section of 12 students.

Yesterday at a town hall meeting, I asked Gov. Chris Christie why adoptee birth records were sealed in New Jersey. I explained to him that records had been open in England since 1975 with many happy reunions. I shared that adopted people were respectful if their birthmothers did not want contact.
